What is Pontem?

Pontem’s story

Pontem Network is a blockchain product studio building for Aptos and the Move ecosystem. We work in close partnership with the Aptos Foundation to onboard users to the most scalable and production-ready L1 blockchain.

Pontem began in 2020, more than a year before the launch of Aptos, building for Meta’s Diem blockchain and its Move language. Our original objective was to link the permissioned Diem ecosystem and the rest of web3.

When Diem’s leading engineers and executives launched Aptos in October 2022, Pontem pivoted accordingly, focusing on applications and tooling for the burgeoning ecosystem.

The Pontem team

Our team comprises over dozens of people spread across 10+ countries. You can frequently meet our executive team at the biggest blockchain events:

• Boris Povod, co-founder and Head of Technology: blockchain developer since 2014, created the first-ever JS DpoS blockchain in 2014;
• Stas Oskin, co-founder and Head of Business Development: a pioneer of B2C mining and DPoS blockchains with 20 years of experience in development and IT project management;
• Alejo Pinto, co-founder and CGO: led growth for IBM Blockchain and BlockFi and has 10 years of experience managing successful businesses.

Pontem is the only product studio on Aptos to offer such a wide-ranging suite of products - both consumer-facing apps and development tooling.

Pontem Wallet

Pontem Wallet is the leading, triple-audited wallet for Aptos on iOS, Android, Chrome, and Firefox. It’s also the first Aptos wallet to feature native integrations: swaps, staking, liquid staking, lending and borrowing, are all built-in.

In December 2023, Pontem became the first Aptos wallet to activate support for EVM chains, starting with Ethereum and Lumio, Pontem-build optimistic rollup for Ethereum. Now accounts created in MetaMask and other EVM wallets can be imported into Pontem. (As of January 2023, the feature is available to a group of whitelisted beta testers.)

On top of this, Pontem Wallet offers a browser, dApp marketplace, detailed ecosystem info, Aptos Names support, biometric authentication, and more. You can even connect the wallet to a hardware Ledger wallet for additional security.

Liquidswap

The first production-ready AMM on Aptos, with a constant-function concentrated liquidity product (CFMM). You can become a liquidity provider in one of the dozens of pools with up to 100% APR and participate in Hydroponic Farms. Liquidswap also offers native delegated staking on Aptos.

Liquidswap UI includes a bridging widget by LayerZero. You can transfer USDT, USDC, ETH, WETH, USDD, BTC.b, and CAKE between Aptos, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Ethereum, Avalanche, Polygon, and BNB Chain.It also features cross-chain swaps for tokens on Aptos, Solana, and Ethereum, in partnership with Kana Labs, a leader in cross-chain composability.

Lumio L2

Lumio is the first optimistic rollup for Ethereum to support both EVM and Move VM, the native smart contract language of Aptos. This L2 introduces the scalability, speed, and security of Move VM to the world of Ethereum rollup chains. Support for Arbitrum, Solana, and WASM is coming soon.

SuperLumio

SuperLumio is the first mainnet iteration of Lumio, built on the OP Stack with EVM as its execution layer. SuperLumio will become part of Superchain, Optimism’s network of interconnected L2s. It will support proto-danksharding, Ethereum’s new rollup solution that will dramatically reduce fees. We recently received a 50,000 OP Builders Grant from the Optimism Collective to continue building and growing the Optimism ecosystem.

xLumio

xLumio is our whitelist-only testnet version. It is still in use as a production-grade sandbox for testing and experimentation.

Pontem Gator

Gator is a new trading interface that uses the on-chain orderbook developed by our partner Econia Labs. You can place limit and market orders on Aptos, view price charts, and use indicators like the RSI or Ichimoku Cloud. Gator provides the advantages of a CEX in a decentralized, non-custodial environment.

Pontem NFTs

We have released two 100% original NFT collections: Pontem Space Pirates and Dark Ages. Both were designed by our talented in-house artists. They weren’t just free to mint: all mint participants received APT as a reward!

Space Pirates is one of the top-selling collections on Aptos, stably ranking in the top 10 by volume on Topaz since the release.

Pontem NFTs have utility beyond the awesome art:

1) holders get APR boosts of up to 50% in Hydroponic Farms on Liquidswap;

2) holders get priority access to host Lumio L2 (Whitelist-to-Earn campaign on Topaz in December 2023);

3) Space Pirate holders earn CRED loyalty points;

holders can vote on proposals in the Space Pirates DAO and Dark Ages DAO on OrderDAO.

Move Code Playground

The easiest way to start coding in Move: all you need to do is open the online editor, connect Pontem Wallet, and type your code. Test, run, and deploy smart contracts of any complexity – including new tokens and NFTs on Aptos. As long as you work on testnet, you won’t have to pay anything. The online editor is completely free to use.

JetBrains Intellij IDE plugin for Move

Integrated Development Environment (IDE) is an app that makes writing code easier. It usually includes a code editor, tools for compiling and debugging programs, etc. JetBrains is one of the leading IDE providers, with some completely free platforms like Intellij PyCharm Community Edition for coding in Python and Intellij IDEA Community Edition for Java.

Our Intellij plugin for Move is the first of its kind and far more advanced than the Intellij plugin for Solidity. It supports most Intellij IDEs and is completely free. It’s a great choice if you want to learn coding in Move. You can start with very basic code samples and progress to write and deploy whole dApps or NFT collections on Aptos.

ByteBabel: an EVM to Move VM transpiler

This industry-first bytecode translator transforms code written in Solidity into Move. In other words, it transforms an Ethereum smart contract into one that can be run on Aptos. It allows Solidity developers to migrate their dApps to the Move ecosystem without manual re-coding.
