The Introduction to Pontem Network

Today, more than ever, we are standing on the divide between two crypto worlds — the regulated and the unregulated. While the unregulated world grew rapidly, often chaotically, the regulated one has always been a kind of a closed garden, available only to the chosen ones. This has led to segregation in the society that hasn’t yet been addressed, with those who are able to enjoy the benefits of the blockchain world being able to utilize it to the fullest, and those who do not have the means to are locked in the closed garden.

We decided to change this one and for all by launching Pontem, a place where the regulated world meets the unregulated.

What is Pontem?

Pontem is a bridge between the regulated and unregulated worlds that will allow exchanging value between the two. It is backed by Wings Foundation, a Swiss-based non-profit foundation established in 2016.

What Pontem does is connect Diem and the decentralized world, including traditional crypto markets. The network will help Diem users get access to all the use-cases provided by the unregulated society, such as financial instruments, security tools, and even games.

How exactly does it work?

The Bridge between Diem and the Pontem network will be a standard PegZone.

We keep our road to become one of Polkadot Parachains supporting Move VM and Move Language. This Parachain will be connected to other ones by means of Relay Chain, which will unite the Polkadot ecosystem and Pontem Parachain. This will allow more Parachains to interact with the Pontem Network.

Why Pontem?

Pontem Network is a solution that will answer the demand of different markets and individuals. Many crypto-developers are interested in using the Move VM. The reasons for this are its high security and the emerging markets that will grow as soon as cryptographic and non-cryptographic users are united.

We use the developments and expertise of the Dfinance team, who were the first to integrate the Move VM into existing blockchains when working on the Dfinance platform.

We believe that all of these factors will allow Pontem to find supporters and grow the Network in the years and years to come. Stay tuned and become a part of the future today!

Stay tuned!

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

  1. Blockchain fees. Most NFTs are issued on the Ethereum blockchain, where you have to pay for gas. NFT minting involves a complex smart contract and thus requires a lot more gas than simply sending crypto. Plus, the gas has been very expensive in the past few months, so you can expect to pay at least $50–100 in gas fees per NFT collection.
  2. Marketplace fees. While you can issue an NFT on your own, it will be hard to promote it and find buyers. That’s why most creators work with NFT marketplaces like OpenSea and Rarible. And while minting NFTs on OpenSea is technically gasless and free, there is a gas fee to initialize a seller account and accept a bid from a buyer — expect to pay around $150 in total. On Rarible, the costs can exceed $600.
  • Facebook has almost 3 billion monthly active users, giving Diem the largest potential audience of any blockchain project on earth;
  • The stablecoin will probably get integrated into transactions on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Whatsapp (shopping, paying for ads, sending money to friends etc.);
  • Facebook can afford to hire the best developers and marketers, so the execution and promotion will be top-notch;
  • Diem’s programming language, Move, is safe, flexible, and well-suited for writing smart contracts;
  • It should be possible to add third-party dApps to the Diem ecosystem — think of WeChat with its thousands of mini programs, but on blockchain.
