Pontem’s Aptos Wallet For Android V.1.1.1 Is Live: NFT Support And More Updates

Announcements

Table of Contents

We’ve just released a new version of our Aptos wallet for Android, and it’s packed with new features and UI optimizations, including NFT management.

What Is Pontem Aptos Wallet For Android?

Only a few weeks ago, Pontem launched an Aptos wallet app for Android - and we are already on the second major update. Remember that Pontem Wallet is the only wallet for Aptos to be available on all major platforms:  Chrome, iOS, Android, and Firefox, plus an Aptos app for Ledger.

Since the first release, we’ve listened to your comments and based the new 1.1.1 version on the feedback from the community. If you already have Pontem Wallet for Android, don’t forget to update the app. And if you haven’t tried the wallet yet, there’s no better time to install it than now!

We also have a favor to ask: after you’ve tried the app, please spare a minute and write a review in Google Play Market. Your comments and suggestions help Pontem become better every day.

For info on how to install Pontem Wallet for Android and create or import an account, see the original tutorial. In this post, we’ll go over the new features and changes to the interface.

What’s New in V.1.1.1 and V.1.1.0

  • Lower gas fees. On March 28, Aptos updated its gas policy, so we quickly made changes to both our Android app web extensions. You’ll see that gas are now lower for almost all transactions - great news, right?
  • NFTs have arrived! Our Aptos wallet for Android now includes an NFT section where you can manage your collection: view the ID and the creator address, or send an NFT to another user. Sometimes NFT images take a little bit of time to load: please be patient.
  • New token list design. Now you can see a larger amount of your tokens on the main screen – and easily display the full list.
  • Even more whitelisted tokens. In the Add Token menu, you can choose from among 60+ verified assets on Aptos and add any of them in a few short taps. We even added a few LP tokens. As usual, you can add any asset that isn’t on the list using the Custom Coin feature and its smart contract address.
  • Smoother Liquidswap integration. When you tap Swap on the main screen, you’ll be taken to the native Liquidswap dApp. All the latest features are available, including V0.5 pools for stablecoin swaps and frontrun protection.

Attention: if you are building a project on Aptos and would like for your token to be whitelisted on Liquidswap and in Pontem Wallet, click or tap on the orange List Token icon and fill out the questionnaire. Note that a project must have been audited in order to get verified.

  • Child accounts are imported automatically. When you import an account using a seed phrase, your additional accounts with non-zero APT balances should appear on the list automatically with correct balances. You don’t have to keep tapping Add Account anymore.
  • Switch easily between networks. In Settings -> Networks, toggle the Show Test Networks switch to be able to choose between Aptos mainnet, testnet, and devnet. This is useful if you want to play with Aptos dApps that aren’t available on mainnet yet.
  • Improved performance. The app loads faster and runs smoother overall. If you do encounter any strange behavior, please write to Pontem’s Tech Support chat in Telegram.

Apart from these novelties, the app still has all the great features of the V.1.1.0:

  • Send, receive, & store any token on Aptos;
  • Built-in swaps with Liquidswap for APT, USDC, USDC, etc.;
  • A dApp browser with 10+ verified Aptos dApps (Topaz, Tortuga, Ditto, Argo, Aries Markets, Souffl3, etc.);
  • Share your Aptos address directly to socials & messengers;
  • A web browser based on DuckDuckGo;
  • Pay by scanning a QR code.

Install the app from Android Play Store. For more upcoming features in the Android wallet, see our roadmap update.

Useful Tips

  • You can import an account created in any other Aptos wallet extension (Martian, Petra, Fewcha, etc.) using your seed phrase (mnemonic).
  • When importing an account with a private key instead of a mnemonic, make sure it begins with 0x. If it doesn’t, attach 0x in front. Any accounts previously imported with a private key will also need to be imported into the Android Aptos wallet using a private key.
  • Use the Export icon in the Receive tab to share it directly via Telegram, Whatsapp, etc.
  • Be extra careful when adding and transacting with tokens that aren’t on the approved list. They can be unaudited or contain vulnerabilities. Always do your own research (DYOR).
  • When swapping tokens, set the frontrunning protection to On - it doesn’t cost you anything and it protects you from many common frontrunning attacks.
  • If you realize that you forgot the seed phrase, urgently export the private key so that you can recover the wallet in case you lose access to your phone. Open the hamburger menu → Settings → Security & Privacy → Show private key. You’ll need to enter the password. Copy and save the private key and save it in a very safe location.
  • To connect directly to the official Pontem chat in Telegram, open the hamburger menu, and tap Community. Don’t use Telegram search, because you’ll get a lot of scam Pontem chats in the results.
